The Port of East London is managed by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), while all shipping and yacht movements in and out of the port are overseen by East London Port Control.

Entry Procedure

As you approach the main breakwater, contact Port Control on VHF Ch 12 to request permission to enter the port and proceed to the Buffalo River Yacht Club Marina, the only marina in the port.

Please note that the Buffalo River Yacht Club's operating hours are limited outside daylight hours. However, with prior arrangements, we can accommodate arrivals at any time. This charming yacht club is definitely worth a visit. Upon arrival at the dock, the captain must report to the BRYC Marina office.

Once cleared by Port Health, the captain and crew (with passports and boat documents) can move on to Immigration.

Customs Clearance

Individuals must complete customs clearance online by filling out the SARS documentation on the OSASA WEBSITE under SA regulations for both crew and the boat. A scanned PDF of the completed DA1 form should be emailed to PEZPortEnquiries@sars.gov.za and kkahlu@sars.gov.za.
