Seeking assistance to cross 'The Bar' is both available and advisable. However, the effort you put in will be well rewarded once you make it through! Once on the Leading Line, start your approach, white beacon with white flashing light in the foreground. Red and white inverted triangle with red flashing light in the background.
At the white beacon turn hard to Port picking up the Western shore and the first red and white Channel markers. Follow these up the Estuary and leaving the big concrete jetty on your Starboard side and take that starboard channel up to the Yacht Club. I’ll be there to catch your lines. I always, also have a VHF radio with me on Channel 10 as a back up. These are all guide lines and I am available 24/7 to help with specific instructions

If the Vessel is running late to make the ideal Tide conditions, they can anchor in 6 m of water in the Lee of Robberg Peninsula next to the Seal Colony
The Exit line is where you ignore all protocol from your entry and move further West, virtually scraping the rocks, also 1 to 2 hours before the High Tide

I’ll be there to catch your lines.All incoming Vessels are to communicate with me on WharsApp up to a week before arrival to plan the entrance on the correct tide.
We further haves Video Camera at the entrance to monitor both the conditions and the Vessels entry.

Procedure Guidelines for Knysna Yacht Club - Foreign Vessels
Knysna is not a Port of Entry.
If you have successfully cleared into the country at one of the official ports, you are welcome to visit us here.
Please note that you can only clear in or out of the country at an official port.
On entering Knysna, make for an approach to waypoint of 34°05,467’S – 023°03,483’E. This will position you on a course of 030 Degrees True and the leading lights (red over white) will become visible to enter the estuary.
